Ms Dent is an award-winning writer/director/producer, speaker and media-technology entrepreneur, as well as an independent consultant advising think tanks, NGOs and government on international issues, strategy, film and technology. She has been honored as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, selected as one of the top 200 youth leaders, together with Chelsea Clinton, Will.i.am and other luminaries in the class of 2013, for a 6 year term taking part in World Economic Forum summits and initiatives. Ms Dent has also been nominated and selected by the World Economic Forum Expert Network as a world leading expert on media/entertainment and information, human rights (together with Amal Clooney) and the illicit economy (together with Samantha Power, the Deputy Director of the FBI and other leaders).

She has been a speaker at two World Economic Forums, (Summer Davos in China, and the World Economic Forum on Latin America). She has also been a guest -speaker at Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, Berkeley and USC School of Cinematic Arts, among other prestigious universities, speaking on documentary filmmaking and journalism as well as Zimbabwean politics.  She is the Writer - Producer- Director of 'December 25', 'No News From Harare', ' Kissed by A Crocodile', 'Girls From Ipanema' and other films, and is the founder of IndustryIntervention.com,  RecommendedByWomen.com, AdoptAReporter.com, AdoptAFilmmaker.com, WhiteForBlack.org and other platforms.

Ms Dent is the founder of Human Rights on Film and a social entrepreneur of several new platforms, including RecommendedByWomen.com, and her upcoming media-tech venture, Cinemmerse, fusing film with wearable technology. Dent’s writing has been published in leading scholarly and trade magazines. Her documentaries, filmed solo across five continents on pressing and diverse social/political/cultural issues, have been acquired by universities and screened at over 40 leading international film festivals around the globe. She has risked imprisonment filming undercover in Zimbabwe, evaded rocket attacks on the sidelines of Gaza, and faced threats from the Ku Klux Klan. She upturned the underbelly of the gigolo trade in Bali, introduced the world to Verona’s modern-day ‘Juliets’, and revealed the inspiring side of life in the favelas of Brazil. And she has interviewed some of the most influential people of our time, from activist Richard Gere to Hollywood mogul Jeffrey Katzenberg, the masters of Jazz in New Orleans, and the exiled Cambodian opposition leader.

In 2012-2013, Dent served as Visiting Scholar at University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts. She has been a guest speaker at Harvard, Stanford, UC Berkeley, USC and Columbia universities, and interviewed about international politics on CNN International, with special screenings of her work. Dent has been a youth delegate representative to Australian parliament, and is the recipient of four international film festival awards, as well as national public speaking and youth achievement awards.
